In recent decades, numerous international scientific researches have addressed the study of the perception and interaction of individuals with the built environment by adopting an increasingly holistic and human centered approach, demonstrating the existence of reciprocal influences between physical, behavioral, social and psychophysiological aspects, in various fields. In this light, in the assessment of forecasting scenarios, the direct experience of the individual is becoming increasingly important.

In the acoustic field, the acoustic mappings are no longer sufficient to explain how a future scenario will look acoustically after a road or railway infrastructure has been built or after acoustic barriers have been installed. At the same time, in the field of design and representation, CAD and BIM tools are not enough to provide a direct and complete evaluation of a project and its impact.

The spread of Immersive Virtual Reality in recent years, supported by the development of numerous software and wearable devices for interacting with the virtual world, has made it possible to experiment with new integrated design methods, for indoor (e.g. for offices, schools) and outdoor environments. (e.g. wind farms, roads, noise barriers, urban parks).

The webinar will present the new orientations and opportunities of multisensory design, as well as the applications, tools and modeling techniques for IVR applications.
