AIA Membership
The Association has several grades of Members and Supporters.
AIA membership includes the following benefits:
- to be both electors and candidates at the renewal of AIA governance;
- to access the restricted contents of online INCE–USA repository (proceedings of the INTER-NOISE, NOISE-CON, NOVEM, ACTIVE e SQS conferences, NOISE CONTROL ENGINEERING JOURNAL and NOISE NEWS INTERNATIONAL);
- to receive a discount for the registration fees at the national annual meeting of the Association and all the events organised by the Association and by the AIA affiliated scientific associations;
- to benefit for “EAA member” fee at the events organised by EAA (FORUM ACUSTICUM, EURONOISE, EUROREGIO and EAA Symposia, etc…) and by the other European associations on acoustics;
- to download the electronic version of AIA publications;
- to receive announcements of national and international events, meetings and courses (subject to the agreement to the Information consent).
Those who become AIA Members for the first time in 2026 will benefit for a special additional discount of € 50,00 for the registration fee at the 52nd National Annual Conference (Perugia, 10-12 June 2026 – the discount cannot be combined with other offers/promotions
The membership implies the acceptance of the Statute and the Regulation of the association (both in Italian).
Consultation of the online version of the Rivista Italiana di Acustica is open to all users with no need of registration.
HONORARY FELLOW
Honorary Fellow Membership is conferred by the Members General Assembly upon recommendations made by the Board of Directors to extremely distinguished individuals in the field of acoustics who have made an outstanding contribution to the art and science of acoustics.
This position is permanent and no annual dues are required.
FULL MEMBER
Individual adult members who works or have worked in the field of acoustics or vibration. Nominations for Full members will be reviewed by a specific Commission and those elected will have to be approved by the Board of Directors.
The application to become a Full member must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae demonstrating the activity carried out in acoustics.
Full members commit to pay the annual fee on a regular basis and to have and active role in the Association.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Individual adult members who are interested in acoustics and related fields.
Among Full and Associate Members two categories are identified:
- Junior – having less than 35 years in the calendar year which the annual fee refers to;
- Senior – having more than 65 years in the calendar year which the annual fee refers to and having been AIA Member for at least 10 consecutive years.
The two aforementioned categories can benefit from reductions on the annual fees and on the registration fees to AIA events, as established by the Board of Directors.
INSTITUTIONAL SUBSCRIBERS
Individuals or corporations that, although not members, are interested in the welfare of the Acoustical Society of Italy.
They are entitled to all the benefits reserved to AIA Members, except to the first-time-member discount at the annual conference, the Junior and Senior dicount and to elect or candidate themselves for AIA governance.
SPONSORS
Corporations that, although not members, want to provide economic support to the Acoustical Society of Italy through:
- Gold, Silver and Bronze annual sponsorship
- participation in AIA events with an exhibition space and/or through promotional leaflets and brochures in digital format only
Wide visibility is provided for the company on the AIA website and on its social communication channels, with the company logo and direct link to its website in the SPONSORS section.

As defined by the Board of Directors, in 2026 the membership fees are:
- Associate member (Socio Associato): € 70,00 (VAT exempted pursuant to DPR 633/72, art.4, clause 4)
- Full member (Socio Effettivo): € 90,00 (VAT exempted pursuant to DPR 633/72, art.4, clause 4)
50% reduction on the registration fee is provided for Junior or Senior members (Associate/Full).
Junior members are those who are born after 01.01.1992.
Senior members are those who are born before 31.12.1960 and AIA Member for at least 10 consecutive years.
For those who are already members, the renewal of the 2026 membership should be performed within 31 Jenuary 2026. After that date, the benefits reserved to Members will be disabled. They will be reactivated upon receipt of the payment of the annual fee.
As defined by the Board of Directors, in 2024 the fee for Institutional Subscribers is € 180 + VAT (22%)
