Over its 53 years of activity, the Association has established several awards aimed at encouraging and promoting the work and scientific production of young scholars and researchers in the various fields of acoustics. In total, the Association has awarded over 100 young scholars and researchers in the field of acoustics.

In 2026, the AIAthon – “Angelo Farina” Award for Innovation in Acoustics was established. More than just an award, it is a high-impact innovation competition dedicated to acoustics, designed to uncover new ideas and solutions to real-world problems. The competition will involve teams of researchers, professionals, and/or students, as well as partner companies and organizations. Participating in the AIAthon provides access to a select pool of talent, ideas, and expertise without the constraints of traditional R&D paths: a concrete way to explore new solutions and discover future collaborators.

• “AMEDEO GIACOMINI” award is addressed to young researchers, those who are aged under 30, who received a Master’s degree with a thesis in acoustics in the calendar year preceding the award edition.
  The award includes the preparation of a scientific paper with oral presentation, to be presented at the AIA annual national conference, and an extended article to be submitted for publication in the Rivista Italiana di Acustica. The winner will receive a plaque and a mention at the AIA annual national conference. The winner is exempted from paying the registration fee for this conference.
• GINO G. SACERDOTE award is addressed to young researchers, those who are aged under 35, who received a PhD with a doctoral thesis in acoustics in the calendar year preceding the award edition.
  The award includes the preparation of a scientific paper with oral presentation, to be presented at the AIA annual national conference, and an extended article to be submitted for publication in the Rivista Italiana di Acustica. The winner will receive a plaque and a mention at the AIA annual national conference. The winner is exempted from paying the registration fee for this conference.
• The “ITALO BARDUCCI” prize aims to encourage and enhance the activity and scientific production of young scholars and researchers engaged in the various fields of acoustics, promoting the research activities of doctoral students and research fellows engaged in the field of acoustics at Italian universities or public research bodies.
  The prize will be awarded to the best scientific memoir presented as a poster at the 48th annual AIA National Conference by research fellows or doctoral students under the age of 35.
  The prize consists of a financial contribution of 600 Euros for participation in an international acoustics event (conference, seminar, course, etc.) scheduled by 2023 (calendar year following that of awarding the prize). Communications may be submitted by single authors or by groups of no more than three authors.
• NEWS in 2026  The “YOUNG PROFESSIONALS” award changes into YOUNG ACOUSTICIANS award aimed at young people who work professionally in the acoustics and vibrations sectors and are not older than 35 years of age.
• NEWS in 2026 AIAthon – the “Angelo Farina” award for innovation in acoustics – an open innovation laboratory involving partner companies/institutions and young talents. Partner companies/institutions are asked to propose a stimulating challenge and contribute to the initiative’s funding, supporting the award and the event’s organization. Young talents are asked to form teams of five and discuss a specific topic to develop the basic concepts of their proposed innovation (Technological Readiness Level TRL 2) leveraging their skills and creativity to develop cutting-edge solutions.
