After the positive feedback from the “AIA meets the Associations” meetings in 2023, and while awaiting the 50th AIA National Conference, the Acoustical Society of Italy is organizing two further webinars, each dedicated to the in-depth analysis of an interdisciplinary topic covered together with one of the Associations with which AIA has signed collaboration agreements.
On 22 February 2024 we will talk about “Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy and acoustic simulation of buildings”, together with IBPSA Italia (International Building Performance Association Simulation); it will continue in March 2024 with a webinar dedicated to office acoustics, together with SIE (Italian Society of Ergonomics).
The two webinars are free for AIA members and non-members.

Thrsday, 22nd February 2024 1.30-2.30 pm
AIA-IBPSA Italia Webinar “Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy and acoustic simulation of buildings”
Moderator: Patrizio Fausti (University of Ferrara)
Greetings: Andrea Gasparella (President of IBPSA Italy) and Francesco Asdrubali (President of AIA)
Established in recent years, the BIM (Building Information Modelling) approach is the basis of digital transformation in the architecture, engineering and construction sector. It is a holistic process of creating and managing information relating to a construction; Based on an intelligent model and supported by a cloud platform, BIM integrates multidisciplinary structured data to create a digital representation of the various aspects of a building throughout its life cycle, from design to construction, from commissioning to maintenance. In the webinar, several experts, each from their own point of view, will discuss the issues relating to the dialogue and integration between the BIM approach and the main calculation codes and software for the energy and acoustic simulation of buildings.
In collaboration with ANIT

AIA-SIE Webinar “Acoustic ergonomics in offices”
Greetings: Francesco Draicchio (SIE President) and Francesco Asdrubali (AIA President)
Moderator: Arianna Astolfi (Polytechnic of Turin)
Acoustics and the effects of noise on the well-being and health of humans and workers play a role of great importance for ergonomics. The noise generated by conversations, and human noise in general, is one of the main causes of disturbance to workers in shared offices and open space offices. Symptoms such as headaches, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, reduced productivity and loss of motivation are negative factors related to such environments. Acoustic comfort is influenced by the architectural characteristics of the office, which must respond to a complex compromise between understandable verbal communication and sufficient vocal privacy, but also by the vocal behavior of the users themselves.
Speakers

Dario D’Orazio, electronic engineer, researcher at the University of Bologna. It deals with the acoustic quality of environments (performance, work and teaching), innovative materials and measurement techniques. Contributes, as an expert member, to the ISO and UNI groups for the acoustic quality of environments.

Linda Parati, she obtained a degree in engineering in 2000 and a European Doctorate in Sound and Vibration Studies – EDSVS in 2004, partly in Italy at the Faculty of Engineering – University of Ferrara and partly in Denmark at Acoustic Technology Department – Technical University of Denmark, where she was also Assistant for the Architectural Acoustics course in 2008. She is Coordinator of the UNI/CT002/SC01/GL07 Working Group responsible for the UNI 11532 Technical Standard and is the author of multiple publications. He works as an Acoustic Consultant, with particular attention to the construction sector, with a specific focus on schools and offices with interventions both on existing assets and on new buildings. The experience acquired in the field allows her to make a concrete and objective contribution to the working group of the standard she coordinates.

Erberto Sandon, certified European Ergonomist (Eur.Erg.), member of the Board of Directors of SIE, the Italian Society of Ergonomics and Human Factors of which he has been a member since 2005, specialist in the cognitive interaction between man and artefacts. Graduated in Engineering at the University of Bologna, he followed an Annual Specialization Course in Acoustics at the University of Ferrara. He is a competent technician in environmental acoustics. In 2015 he completed the Master in Ergonomics and Human Factors organized by SIE-Lazio and SIE-Emilia Romagna in collaboration with La Sapienza University of Rome and INAIL. As a freelancer he deals with Ergonomics, Environment, Hygiene and Work Safety with particular reference to Acoustics (environmental, construction, architectural), Human-Machine Interaction (HMI, cognitive ergonomics, usability, user experience) and human exposure to Agents Physical (noise, electromagnetic fields, non-ionizing radiation).
